|
|
i am planning on travelling through asia before returning home. i have already posted here about sending belongings via the post office, but it sounds like their boxes are not going to be big enough.
(can someone give me an idea of how big 50cm x 50cm x 1m actually is)
i have contacted several shipping companies and have been quoted up to 3 million. this is ridiculous considering i only really want to send clothes, books & small items.
how have other people moved smaller items back home?
thanks |

I sent all of my stuff home via the post office in lots of boxes, some PO ones (#5 and #6) and a few I got from the supermarket.
For all the stuff I had, I definitely spent under 1million won on postage.

Not big enough for What? Go to the post office and see for yourself, or get out a tape measure and figure it out.

If they're not as big as you expected, then you buy a few more boxes. It's not that complicated really. Rather than the two you thought, you send 3 or 4. I sent home 3 boxes last year before I went home, and it only cost me about 200,000won or so. |

you make it sound so easy! i was just alarmed by the boxes that were visible, and wanted a little reassurance that there were bigger ones available. |

I was allowed to send #6 boxes back. You may want to check if it's allowed for your destination. You don't really need much Korean to communicate what you want/need. |

Sometimes the bigger boxes are not on display, but they do have them. I would think that simplified English and a bit of body language at the counter would work, but if not, ask them for "oh-bon/yook-bon bok-soo" (#5/#6 box). Most people know the English word for box, but if they don't, try the word sung-jah. Koon means big...so you want a koon sung-jah. Yikes the korean looks hideous romanized but I'm assuming you don't read...? Good Luck~ |
