I work for this after school program, the oldest slimiest ass hole that runs this agency is over charging kids and then telling the parents the text books are way more expensive then they really are to pocket even more money. We tried telling the principal but he told us to not worry about it and obviously The principle is guaranteed getting money from this yes media agency that has nothing to do with education or english but some how got the "unoffical" contract for the school.The agency is forcing me and a gyopo teacher to put the schools money in our name then sign most of it over to them ( obvious tax fraud) And the best part is i call the ministry of labor and the tax office and they tell me "everybody does it so dont worry"

THIS IS SOOOO STUPID!!!! there is a good reason why after school programs have to be run by the schools and not the agencies

1. the profit can go to the school in the form of a bigger playground or whatever else they want.instead of in the pockets of the principles and the sleazy agency

2.The tuiton prices will be lower to accomodate lower income families that cant afford the more expensive hagwons

thats why its illegal for agencies to run after school programs, so why are sooo many doing it and when a teacher tries to report it the government they tell us dont worry about it?

It's just an obvious example of what can go wrong when a government decides to throw money at something.

The necessary skills to implement a coherent after school program are simply not there, and most Principals don't have the competence to hire foreign teachers...or just lack any motivation to do so.

So you get bottom feeders- agents, so-called agents, and any Tom, Dick or Harry starts to make a quick buck. It's a joke, and the least funny part is that the students and the public education system pay for it.

If you feel it's worth it, write a letter outlining the scam and e-mail it to the English media. It does appear to be widespread so they might just expose it... maybe.

Otherwise lets just blame the usual suspects- pot-smoking Canadian tourist visa holders and Messrs. Park, Kim et al will go on with their lives as comfortably as before.

Realistically though, what more can you expect from a government which cancels today's schooling for students because parents will bribe teachers?

How much faith does anybody have in a system like that?

yea im going to pull a runner probably near the end of my contract , i would just keep the money and keep coming to work but this agency is scum and they might hire some kind of korean mafia group to come to my house, and since im married i dont want to risk my wife having to deal with any of that crap, but my major point is its already illegal so why the hell cant i report them? its like everyone i called wont take the report? i really hate the way they do things here in korea
