I noticed when a student is trying to copy or cheat off another student, the kid starts screaming something that sounds like either "hacking" or "cunning". Any ideas? |

Ideas about how to control YOUR classroom? Got any rules for the students to follow? Any punishment/reward system? |

"Hacking" and "cunning" are the words they use to indicate cheating.
I have absolutely no idea where they get it from.
So i try to explain the difference between cheating, hacking and cunning. |

Actually the poster below correctly read the context. |

Jesus. At first I thought it was Korean but them I'm like "wait, when did Koreans start using 'ing' at the end of Korean verbs?" |

Aside from what they're calling it, I say implement a whistle-blower protection programme, along with insanely disproportionate rewards for squealers and punishments for cheaters. This attitude deserves massive support and encouragement before the country spawns yet another generation of cheats, liars, swindlers and degree-forgers. |

Hacking is new to me, but 컨닝 is definitely Konglish for cheating. I teach writing, so every semester and every assignment I get at least 3-5 jokers who think I'm a sunsaengnimrod and try to put one past me.
They scream a storm when I jot down the zero, the word 컨닝, and the link to the naver translation they used.
Maybe hacking is new Konglish for cheating using a computer? |

I think it's 'con-ing'. Con as in scam. like a Con-man.
When I try to teach my kids 'cheating' they all giggle because I guess it sounds like a curse word. |

Heard the kiddies use both ages ago.
First time I heard 'cunning' though, I was very impressed. I was like, "Oh wow, you like Black Adder, too?". |

Conning would make more sense. But then given the wide spread copying that goes on in business here (prostar, starpreya instead of starbucks) I would have to say copying is considered cunning. |

I generally implement a no tattling policy. It's really unfair for me to punish a kid for doing something that I didn't see them do. Plus many of my students delight in getting their friends in trouble and/or are whiny, so I'm not giving them the pleasure. I had one student tap another on the shoulder to ask a question, and the be-tapped student started screaming "TEACHER HE HIT!!" It's really annoying and I don't tolerate it. |
