| I am going to use percents because it seems Unis around the world use different systems to measure academic performance. |

| We don't do GPA in Britain and I also have no idea what percentile I'm in, Pest2, but I did once get my degree evaluated into its US equivalent scores (by the World Education Services) and my GPA was 3.5 |

| We have a 7-point system in Australia, with 7 being the highest. Undergrad I scored 6.15, current postgrad I am sitting on 6. |

Yeah, go figure, I got 2 B's the entire time I was in University... One was in chemistry because its just plain hard... and the other was in -- you guessed it -- foreign language. Spanish, to be exact... ahhh the irony that I now teach what I was worst at. Oh well...
I reckon alot of very intelligent people do live abroad ... its not surprising there are alot of intelligent people here ... on the other hand, alot of idiots end up living abroad, too. I would hypothesize that there isnt a very strong correlation of any kind between University/GPA and kind of people who come here. |

I voted 61% minus.. Just guessing, though.

Maybe I'm special. 4 years of college fresh out of high school, earning 2.5 years' credit with a GPA to be overcome.
Then 4 years USArmy. Then changed majors as a MUCH more diligent student. 3 more years. 7 years total to my BS Biology.
I graduated Cum Laude from high school, top 10%, but that wasn't the question. Just wanted to emphasize stupidity is acquired.
Jeez, Latin Cvm Laude is beeped... |

Yeah, I know my percentage, and I can figure out my equivalent American GPA based on my percentage, but I don't really know how my percentage relates to everybody else's. I got an invite to a scam honour society which stated I was in the top 20% but it's a scam so who knows?
I will graduate With Distinction (equivalent of cvm laude?) so I guess I did pretty good. Voted Top 20 based on that, even though American grade inflation makes me insecure about my "B" average of 77%.  |

yeah, but i'd bet you were the hawtest lil' sexy assed coed in your cute varsity lettermen cardigan sweater and hotpants, girl... 
i was expelled from college by scholastically jealous professors and a sub-standard college student support system... still graduated and went on to university, though...
i was banned twice from the university i attended but allowed back after shamelessly using my father's reputation to bribe the departmental chair... i was just barely accepted into graduate school with 3.5 (B+ / A) GPA but i had to bone all my female professors to pump up my GPA...
it was all just a frightfully traumatic experience for me, anyway...  |

WHile a generalization (as there are some really hard and good arts degrees out there), you have to remember a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale for a general arts degree takes about the equivalent intelligence and work as a 2.0 for a real degree (like engineering, physics, law, etc) in my opinion at least. You have to take out the degrees that people go into cause they couldn't get into anything else (or failed into them).
Just in case, I had a high GPA. |
