I know you wrote in the fine print that the thread should not be about you, but I gotta wonder...has the SO been on an extended trip out of town?
Posted here rather than the other thread because it is potentially a good thread. Decent topic, anyway--although in my opinion, it would be appropriate in the Off Topic forum. |

I'm sure we have enough posters here on Dave's to cover the spectrum. Anyway, one man's kinky sex is another's mundane common garden variety sex, and the converse could also be said to be true.

Yes, it is a fuzzy concept. I'm reminded of letter (back in the pre-e-mail days) from a dear friend. It went something like this:
Dear Ya-ta,
I'm in a moral quandry. Many evenings when I am coming home from work, I pass an apartment (in the complex) where the goings-on challenge my sense of self-expression. The inhabitants choose to express their love for each other by the guy tieing the woman up to the bannister and whipping her---with the curtains open. We've had community meetings about this and no one cares what they do behind closed doors, but all the parents want the curtains closed too.
The couple have been approached and say that the open curtains are vital to the level of sexual pleasure attained. |

Haha. I think that falls safely in the realms of kinky. Especially the open curtains part. The other part is probably more mundane and common garden variety than is acknowledged, though still regarded as kinky, of course.
Isn't that some kind of a felony though, exposing oneself in public view? |

I'm glad you mentioned that. It reminds me of something I have wanted to ask a Brut since 1989.
I was on my first (and only) trip to New Zealand. I was walking down Queen Street in Auckland in the evening and this guy struck up a conversation with me. At first he seemed normal enough (keep in mind that I'm a small-town Iowa boy), but at one point he unzipped his pants and whipped out his pride and joy and whizzed while we were walking. Naive little me just tried to be tolerant and globalized, thinking this must be a part of Brutish culture that Mr. Di*kens never mentioned.
But when the locals started looking askance at him, I decided discretion was the better part of valor and made a quick exit from the scene. (I wanted to meet locals, but thought an evening in the local pokey was more than I was interested in.)
Is exposing oneself in order to whiz while walking on a main street something all Bruts do, or is this something only dustmen do? Enlightenment please. |

I know these 2 unusual laws, but I don't know if they apply outside Britain:
A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants.
A man who feels compelled to urinate in public can do so only if he aims for his rear wheel and keeps his right hand on his vehicle.
However, I don't think they are widely known. Also, it would be very unusual or unseemly to urinate in public, though I have seen it done.
My brother was very shocked when he first arrived in Belgium. He saw 2 guys chatting, while one was pissing against the wall. He was even more surprised to see the man swinging his hand and nodding, saying "Wee wee. Wee wee," over and over again (I would presume in response to the other's conversation).
My silly brother never took French at school. The guy was saying "Oui oui" of course! And yes, apparently it was quite legal for him to be pissing up the wall in the town square. |

It varies by individual State, but generally, there are four elements to indecent exposure:
1) that it be willful/intentional
2) it must include the private parts
3) it must be in a public place
4) it must be in the presence of at least one member of the opposite sex
Public place usually encompasses any place where one is likely to be seen by casual observers. |
