|
|
| my laptop is slowly but surely turning to crap. i have quadrupled my RAM and added an external HD - freeing up lots of space on my internal HD - but still my computer is running poorly. it gets really choppy sometimes, and freezes up often - though rarely locks up completely. when i restart it, half the time it boots up as choppy as ever. i'll bring up the windows task manager, and in the performance tab, the cpu usage will instantly (and constantly) bounce back and forth between 100% and 20% or so. other times it works perfeclty fine. i just really can't find the weak link that needs to be fixed. should i just wipe things down, reload windows, and hope that solves my problems? |

| Bet you a Windows reinstall will do the trick. Backup your stuff and do a format. You're probably full of viruses and spyware. |

| Thanks for the suggestion, but what does "do a format" mean? |

Format means to clean all of the data off of your hard-drive and reset everything. This option is included on your Windows install disk.

There are plenty of other tutorials out there. Just Google: how to install windows xp |
