An interesting article from the New York Times.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once noted that 11 a.m. on Sunday was the beginning of the most segregated hour of the week in America, and for the better part of 120 years, that certainly applied to this church. |
We have actually come a long way since then despite the debacle in Jena, LA. |

That is an interesting read. It seems balanced and fair. Immigration in the US is massive recently, and it's good to see reports on how people, both natives and the new citizens, are adusting and adapting. There are bound to be bumps in the road, but from what I've seen, it's going pretty well. |

This seems like a good article because some others on the Jena thread were saying it is typical of America, or even more specifically "The South."
I say nonsense. Jena is an anomaly. This article demonstrates the changing divide, indeed even the South. I'm not saying there are no problems, such as the older more conservative parishioners having trouble with the changing climate, but Jena does not represent of The United States. |
