| Do I need a regualr visa as well as a work visa? There is a Korean consulate in Atlanta. Can I just go there to get these on the spot instead of mailing stuff off to Korea? |

| You need an E2 or F4 visa, to work in Korea. Yes, get it in Atlanta. |

| Thanks. Also, is $1,000 enough to live on for a month in S Korea while going out to bars and stuff? |

Let's see:
$15 x 30 = $450 for a dorm & $15 a day, & for food & subway = $900 a month without alchohol. Bring more $! |

| My apartment is going to be paid for. Also, I thought riding the subway was only equivalent to two American dollars a day. Someone else also told me you could also eat a meal in Korea for $2. Is this true? |

OK, you will have enough to survive & the odd party night out. Yes, subways in Seoul are generally no more than 1100 won or 1400 tops. ($1.20 each way to $1.55 one way). Busan fares are similar. |

| Dang it, sorry for all of the questions but is there any way to get a work visa, E-2 or F-4 without being hired first. My contact is still looking for a Busan position and I want to go ahead and go up to Atlanta to get my work visa so that will be taken care of. I saw on a Korean Consulate website, though, that I will need a hiring contract and some other documents related to the employer. All I have right now is my passport and college diploma. |

You'll need:
* Original Degree
* transcripts
* sealed copies of transcripts in your university's letterhead
* criminal background check (any check will do)
* medical check (xrays & blood test)
* original referee / recommendation signatures of any former employers
* Contract (3 signed copies, for employer, Korean visa office, & self)
* Resume
* Return airline ticket
* Passport with blank pages & 6 months validity
Last year, I sent everything from Brisbane by Fed Ex / Express post to Sydney, Australia, & kept copies of the tracking numbers. No need to go to Atlanta in person.
I also need my letter of release, & ARC (Alien Registration Card) plus a brief written essay, plus proof of teaching experience to progress from level 1 to level 2.
The highlighted items are important. I got a criminal bg check done from a Seoul police station. They wanted to see my ARC card & passport. If it's easier to get in done in the US, do it there. |
