|
|
I just recently came over to Korea (in Daegu) and am looking for some suggestions for good hikes at varying levels in and around Daegu (and how to get to them--I'm brand new, so very detailed directions are much appreciated!). Or websites where I can find this info (preferrably English at this time, my Korean is pretty awful right now).
And if anyone is up for hiking weekends this fall and looking for someone to hike with, please do PM me! |

| Try Palgongsan Park. There's Palgongsan mountain itself, plus Donghwasa, a popular temple, and the cable car. Hiking trails and picnicking spots abound. There's also supposed to be horseback riding but we couldn't find it (if you do find it, please post about it)! |

ella,
Thanks for the info. I'm also heading to the tourism building; I've heard there are nice, helpful English speaking people there and that no one ever visits it so they try really hard to help you! I'll ask about horseback riding. That would be fun. |

Apsan Park has a less strenuous hike and a more rewarding view once at the top.
It's also easier to get to from the city center. |

If you live in the south or s.east part of the city, you can do the mountains that border the Jisan, Bummeol, World cup stadium areas. Mount Yongji above Jisan/Beomul is a really good hike, as are the mtn.s above World Cup. I run up Yongji 3 times a week and as far as World Cup stdm occasionally along the ridges that all join up in the backcountry.
The area is riddled with trails and all you have to do is head toward the mountains in Beoumul/Jisan or behind World Cup, walk along the streets that run along the base of the slope you wish to ascend, and look for one of the numerous trail heads. Many of these trail heads go through veggie gardens so you can look for those and head up from there. All the trails lead to the highest points, just go up. Use the tourist city map, and Google maps, too. |
