|
|
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows about part-timers on contracts getting fired. I've read and read and read but I'm skeptical of the prospects because I'm part-time (family visa).
Basically, I've been working for three months under contract and was laid off with zero notice; it's been admitted to me that it is due to restructuring and not any wrong doing on my part. Compensation is not addressed in the contract, although neither is at-a-whim termination. "Management" has claimed that part time contracts are not actual contracts under Korean law, although I find that hard to swallow ...
Thanks. |

Most jobs in north america have a 90 day "fire without notice" clause. A contract is a contract, however. I dare say if you tried to violate your contract, your boss would take issue. So your boss is full of it there. But there might be a good chance Korea has a 3 month rule as well. |

There is no protection from termination if you work less than 6 months.
If you worked more than 6 months you are entitled to 30 days notice or 30 days pay.
