From the sounds of it, quite a few people are staying home during Chuseok this year, avoiding traffic. I had 3 'maybes' on my invitation list, and got one confirmation this morning.

I have been in the mood for some Middle Eastern food lately, so I'm making:

Lebanese Roast Chicken (marinated 24 hrs in lemon, thyme and cayenne)
Pilaf in Bell Peppers
Potato Salad
Mushroom Soup with Yogurt and Dill (Turkish recipe)
Green Salad with peppercorn dressing
Syrian Thyme Bread (it has feta cheese inside)

What are you making?

This sounds like a plea for sympathy. I remember my Christmas in Taiwan. I was stuck with a chicken sandwich at Hardee's for Christmas dinner. One of the grimmest Christmases I've ever spent.

i'm having the in-laws over. i'd brought back with me from the states a jar of zatarain's crab boil. so i drove up to ganghwa today to buy some live shrimp. 30,000 won for 1kg. i hesitantly bought two kilograms (using all the cash i had on me), and we're going to have the smallest shrimp boil in history.

i'm not sure what we're having for dinner. but i can be damn sure we'll all be hungry after splitting 2kg of shrimp between five people.

It looks to me like Dad needs practice feeding the baby. Very Happy He's sure a cute kid, though, in spite of an inept dad.

The Foreign Food Store in Itaewon has frozen okra...tons of it, in the freezer in the back. (At least it looks like okra to me.)
