When I returned from my trip to Japan I went to the machine at
the subway station to buy a card for the subway like my T-money card.
The machine says you can buy a regular card or a Hanaro card.

I almost bought the regular card, but then I remembered I was back
in Korea where things just don't make sense. I asked the guy in the office
and he explained that the regular card is for commuters. If you use it
twice each day you save money. If you use all 60 trips in one month
each trip is less than the regular fare. At the end of the month it goes
to zero so if you don't use it enough you loose.

The Hanaro card works like the T-money card in Seoul. Your money is still
on the card if you go back months later.
