Would it be possible for me to buy some kind of money order that I could send to my sister in the States (to reimburse her for some stuff)? If so, please tell me where. I'm trying to avoid the 30$+ fee they tack on when I transfer money to her in her account.

BTW...I just got my Visa card today from Nongyap bank. I guess it's real anyway.......it's got a $1500 limit but that's still adequate for 99% of what I'd need it for.

Any bank that exchanges money will have them. They are ALL international money orders (ie. they are not used domestically to my knowledge). KEB is probably your best bet. Last time I bought one, I paid W5000(?) for it.

and you get a better rate of exchange when you buy the money order. Even with registered mail, it's a lot cheaper than bank transfer depending on your bank.

Yea, I bought some money orders from KEB in USD issued by the Bank of New York. KEB seems to best meets a foreigners banking needs since they deal with world currencies and often speak a little English. They even have many different types of cash currency on hand for you to purchase when it's time to fly places.

No, I wasn't paid for this bank advertisement. Smile

KEB bank does it. It is a lot cheaper than sending money, HOWEVER, they will put a 10-14 day hold on it when you try to cash it back home.

It's better than the 21-28 days hold they put on checks I deposit here.
