I know there have been plenty of posts on here about pensions but I can't decide whether something dodgy is going on with a contract that I have been offered.

I have been told that i don't have to have a pension scheme with the new job, but if I do it won't work well for me as a UK citizen.

I am aware that brits don't get reimbursement... yet. I'm also pretty sure that you definitely do have to have a pension scheme, otherwise it's illegal, right?

I have also been told that many brits and antipodeans that work for this (big un-named) company have chosen not to have a pension scheme.

This is a new school. I think i smell fish.

They said that if I do want to have a pension then the cost per month (combined with my medical and tax) will be 250,000! That doesn't sound right either, since my last jobs deductions only came to 100,000 in total.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You are correct in your thinking and someone at the "company" is not being truthful to you.

It is dodgy.

Make your own judgement about working there.

Probably just the beginning of the BS. You are wise to stay away.

BTW- What's the name of the recruiter you've worked with to find this crappy hogwan?
