Please tell me why "ever" is right for this sentence, and the reason,too.
"The dramatic increase in the cost of real estate has left many people without hope of ( ever ) buying a house."
I thought this answer was "even" though, it was not correct. |

Even and ever are totally different concepts. Ever refers to a time frame.
Even refers to a lack of capability. |
