Hi, everyone!
I'm a big fan of the Major League baseball, and often watch the games on TV.

When the batter hit a homerun, I often hear the announcer say, "See ya!" to the ball. So I thought "See you" is the most common phrase the announcer uses when the batter hits a home run.
However, when I talked to an American about what announcers say when they see homeruns, he said "See you" is only one of many different ways that is used for homeruns. In his opinion I hear "See you" more often than other expressions such as "good bye baseball" because I only see the New York Yankee games or Seatle Marrinors games.
Do you think this is true? Is "See you" what I just happen to hear because I only hear only a few announcers?

Thank you!

If you listen to the same announcers it is possible they always use the same expressions.

It's gone, It's out of here, Forget about it are just a few of the many possible expressions used when a player hits a home run

Most announcers use the same words every time, so it becomes there "signature." We had an announcere here who used to say, "Tell it good-bye!" Other people say, "It's back. It's way back. It's gone." There are many ways.

When I saw your question, I thought of John Fogarty's great baseball anthem, Centerfield, which has this stanza:

Got a beat-up glove, a homemade bat, and brand-new pair of shoes;
You know I think it's time to give this game a ride.
Just to hit the ball and touch 'em all - a moment in the sun;
(Pop!) It's gone and you can tell that one goodbye!

Serius, Lorikeet and CP, thank you for your replies.

It is interesting that baseball announsers in the US (or Canada) use many different kinds of expressions for homeruns.
