Hi,
Where do accents stand on verb phrases such as "stand up" and "sit down"? On stand, sit or on up, down?
Thanks.

I think you mean, 'Which words are stressed?'
Stand up. Sit down. (although there is not a lot of stress)
Of course one can just say 'Stand' or 'Sit', but usually 'up' and 'down' are added. |
