Hello, teachers!!
The result of the election will largely ( ) ( )( )( )( ) the viewers in today's televised debate.
(a) on (b) which (c) impresses (d) depend (e) candidate
My answer is the following:
(1) The result of the election will largely depend on which candidate impresses the viewers in today's televised debate.
BUT, I think that the natural English is the next, I guess.
(2) The result of the election will largely depend on impresses which candidates give the viewers in today's televised debate.
Which is better, (1) or (2)?
Thank you in advance. |

Your answer number 1 is right. Number 2 is not natural at all.
In number 2, if you changed the verb "impresses" to the noun "the impressions," it might work:
The result of the election will largely depend on the impressions the candidates give the viewers in today's televised debate. _________________ You live a new life for every new language you speak. -Czech proverb |
