1.hear 2.am hearing 3.have heard 4.heard
----->
I know that the best answer is 1, but why is 4 wrong?
Don't you definitely say "Listen! I heard a funny noise outside"?

Hello Learner -
What is the source of your example? Sounds like one of 'those' tests.
In terms of 'usage','I heard...' seems okay to me, too.
We'll have to wait for the grammar 'gurus' to chime in.
