Dear teachers,
I have asked the question below at "Learning English",but no reply.
So I ask it again here.
I have one question about ('s).
Which sentence is correct?
Tom or Roy's sign
Tom's or Roy's sign
The sign of Tom or Roy
I thank your help. |

| If Tom and Roy each has his own sign (individually owned), the 2nd phrase is correct. If Tom and Roy own the same sign, then Tom and Roys sign is correct. The sign of Tom or Roy may imply Tom & Roy each has his own sign, it then is the same as your 2nd phrase. |

Thak you very much.
I have understood very well!
Also I have noticed that:
The sign of Tom or Roy --> "may imply" Tom & Roy each has his own sign
Thanks again for your great help. |
