Hi

I've been thinking of buying a set of English grammar and writing software. Would someone knowing it tell me whether it was really a good tool to facilitate English writing or not? Thanks for your opinion!

I suppose it depends which software you buy.
Before you buy anything you should make sure that you don't already own that kind of software.
For example, the English version of Microsoft Works has a built in grammar and spelling checker that you can activate under the "Tools" menu. Works is routinely included in the price of many computers.

Hi Asterix

Thanks for your reminder! You're always helpful and kind.

Actually,I'm ignorant of this kind of software and suspect whether it like WhiteSmoke(trademark) has the abilities to check my incorrect sentences or suggest how to in a different way convey a better understanding of my original writing?Whereas I'm here asking for opinions.

I personally think that ,absolutely, teacher Asterix has expertise in teaching skill over English writing ,which artificial intelligence doesn't compare. But you know, offering corrections usually takes your time (to do it). With being afraid of bothering you too much,it's the incentive for me to want to have a software to practice my English writing.Could you come forward a further advice! Thanks!

What all of them will do, is alert you to the fact that there may be spelling or grammar errors, by highlighting the suspect words. Then it's still up to you to decide.
I think you might find it useful, especially if you like gadgets!
I have just had a look at White Smoke's website. It seem to be pretty good, but whether it's worth the US$100 they are asking for it, is up to you to decide.

Hi Asterix

Advertisements have always been so attractive on their advantages to lure people to buy those products before finding them not userfriendly or helpful as expected.

With a lack of further access to that software(it didn't provide me with more detailed examples while my browsing on the web site,so I wondered if anyone who used and proved it to be useful could give me advice),I hold a conservative attitude towards it.However,it's well worth spending US$100 on it only then that is truly practical! Thanks for your reply!
