Hi, everyone!

I'd like to ask you to check if there's any mistakes with the use of the verbs in bold letters.

1. The fruit scaled a pound. (to mean "weighed")

2. This machine goes by electricity.(to mean "is powered")

3. Can you hot up this soup?(to mean "heat up")

Thank you.

Hot up is not common here. If its used, its informal.

Hi, everyone!

Buddhaheart, thank you for your reply. I really appreciate it.

So, what about the other two? I'm not still sure if they are fine, even though some dictionary that is available in my country says it's okay.

To my knowledge, "scaled" is rarely if ever used to mean "weighed" in North America.

2. This machine goes by electricity.(to mean "is powered")
I have never heard "goes by electricity". You can say '...runs on electricity'.

3. Can you hot up this soup?(to mean "heat up")
Again, I have never heard "hot up"; 'heat up' and 'warm up' are commonly used.

Thank you.
