What word can be put in the parentheses?

It depends on what meaning of the verb "breed" you are using.

If "breed" means to give birth to and bring up, you can put 'calf' there.
If "breed" means to mate with, you can put "mate' there, but I don't know if that is factually correct.

I meant "give birth to"by "breed", and I'm glad to learn that a baby whale is called a calf and that "breed" also means "mate with". Very Happy
I learned a baby bear or fox is called a cub befoe. Are there any other words which means some kinds of baby wild animals?

There are dozens of "baby animal names." Google the three quoted words.
