Hello!!!
Could you tell me the exact meaning of the following:
In the final seconds of the 1982 college championship game, he made an amazing shot.
Here "made an amazing shot" means "made a score or score a point"? Or it could be just a "nice try"?
Thank you for your help. |

| He made an amazing shot means he shot the ball (toward the basket, if basketball, for example) and although it looked impossible, the ball went in and he scored the points. |

Hello,
Recently I came across the following sentence:
"I'm not a shepherd. I'm the son of Zeus."
I wonder why the writer used "the son", not 'a son.'
Could you explain how those two are different in meaning?
I'm the son of Zeus.
I'm a son of Zeus.
Thanks a million. |

Hello Sabrina K. -
'a' ....would make it sound as though he was one of any number of sons of Zeus -
using 'the' makes him sound more unique... like 'the one and only'
..don't you think so?
What are you reading? Philo |

Thank you for answering my question.
I'm reading simplified version for children.
Apollo said that sentence to Daphne.
Thanks. |
