Hello
What is "catch-up" as opposed to "live content", especially when talking about video on the web? Something like follow-up story of TV show?

I think 'catch-up' would be a review of what was shown on previous video. For example, after episodes 1-3, you might see a review of what happened in all three episodes before they show episode 4.
"To catch up" is to get up to date. If you missed epsidoes 1-3, then the review episode will update you, so you know where the story is at in episode 4.
Another example: If you miss your class and don't do your homework, the next week you have to "catch up" and do all the homework so that you are at the same level as the rest of the class. You need to review the material so you understand where your class is.
