The word "that" is being used as a relative pronoun here, referring back to the object "something." It is possible (and some would even say desirable) to leave out relative pronouns when they refer back to the object in the sentence, as it does in your example. Both examples are correct, however. Also, No. 1 sounds more natural to me. |
