The following is my question. Please help check out the answer.
She bought the house for fifty-thousand dollars three years ago, but now it is worth __________ that amount.
(A) double more than (B) more than double
(C) more double than (D) double than more
The answer is (B), but how about (A)? Would anyone can give me more examples of this comparative sentence pattern? Thanks. |

No, the only correct answer is B. All the other answers are 100 percent wrong.
Here are a few other examples:
John has 50 books; Joe has 105 books.
Joe has more than double the number of books that John has.
John has 50 books; Joe has 95 books.
Joe has nearly double the number of books that John has.
John makes $25,000 a year. Joe makes $55,000 a year.
Joe makes more than double what John makes.
John makes $25,000 a year. Joe makes $45,000 a year.
Joe makes almost double what John makes.
Hope this is clear.
