"John Doe" is a standard name given by police or other authorities to an unidentified male individual ("Jane Doe" for a female). In many cases, it's the body of someone who has been killed but who has yet to be identified. In some cases, it could be a person who is suffering from dementia or amnesia (loss of memory) and has been found wandering around with no identification. This is the normal meaning; however, special context can frequently change things. Since you have provided no context, that's all I can tell you.
