Here is a sentence I met in an exercise.
Do not _____ that bottle; it will break easily and hurt you.
A. handle B. operate C. deal D. pour
Of course the answer is A. But I think the sentence reads awkwardly.
Will a native say "handle a bottle"?
The survey shows EQ is as important, if not more important than IQ.
In my opinion, the above sentence should be rewritten as follows.
The survey shows EQ is as important as, if not more important than, IQ.
Am I right?

Yes. You can "handle" anything you can touch, pick up, or hold. The sentence is fine.

One could argue that the second is more technically correct, and, technically speaking, I suppose it is. However, the second "as" is omitted by educated native speakers on such a routine basis that other educated native speakers present don't so much as bat an eye.
