I'd say #1 and #3 are better than the other two.
2.What's the next on the shopping list? In this case I would modify the sentence to read :-
2.What's the next item (for example) on the shopping list?
Similarly, with #4:- Who's the next person (for example) to sit on the throne in Sweden
When you include the definite article I expect a word that answers the question "the next what?" |
