1.Those are reminiscent of Virginia Woolf's novels.
2.Those are remindful of Virginia Woolf's novels. |
I made the examples.
1.Do they make sense?
2.How different are they?
Thanks. |

Both are correct. There is no difference in meaning.
And yet...they as different as day and night.
Words have different connotations; different characters. They paint different pictures in our minds; they feel different rolling off our tongues; they taste and smell different. We use them the way a chef uses different spices.
Reminiscent is smooth and elegant. Remindful is clunky and plain.
Reminiscent is a CEO. Remindful is a secretary.
Reminiscent is a van Gogh. Remindful is a sketch on the back of a napkin.
Reminiscent is a sirloin steak. Remindful is a bologna sandwich.
This is what I wish for all people learning English: to reach the point where they begin to sense the character of words; to go beyond the point where words are merely entries in dictionaries to be mechanically inserted into sentences; to reach the point where they get to know words as friends.
Hope this helps.
