Your second choice is not correct, and the only edit I can think of ends up the same as your first sentence.

"Is" does not work in these sentences beacause the action includes the past as well as the present.

I'd like to add - that although grammatically correct - in common speech, we generally do not use the "for" at the beginning of sentence. We commonly say "How long has she been on this drug?"
