Hi teachers,
I was reading a lyric of "phantom of 309"; a song telling a ghost story. One of the line says:
I was hungry and freezin', done caught a chill
What does "done caught a chill" mean? I am puzzled with the grammer by it putting two past participles back-to-back together.
Thanks,
Mark |

Be aware that in songs, especially country songs, the grammar is often less than perfect.
In rural areas of the USA there are some odd usages.
I done caught a cold means, "I caught a cold."
"He done up and died." means, he died.
"What are you fixin' to do today?", means "What are your plans for today?"
