Which is more important: accent or pronunciation?
One of the biggest barriers we face as English learners is to overcome fear of speaking. Many of us focus only on our accent and completely forget that one of the main tools to communicate in English is a good pronunciation, the accent is secondary.
This is basic, properly pronounce each word so that the receiver can correctly grasp the message you want to convey.
I believe that Canada is one of the best ways to learn English because it is a multicultural country and hence you are getting plenty of accents, you can not imagine how many! but with excellent pronunciation! That is important.
You should not feel ashamed to have your accent Latino, Japanese, Chinese, Hindu, Arabic, by contrast, is proud! Because it's your standard, is your flag.
To reduce the stress, the process is long, including many of us it takes years and years and I even dare say that probably can never be eliminated entirely.
Concentrate on improving our pronunciation, enrich our vocabulary in English, understand the message make you want to say for excellent communication in English. This is a priority.
