I have heard American teachers say they "teach school".
(As opposed to university, I guess).
I can't say I have heard anyone referred to as a school student. Usually, "student" is sufficient. e.g. I'm a student at Martin Luther King High School.
Perhaps one of our American friends can help with this. |

| I have never heard "school student" either, but "teach school" is common, to indicate it is not college, I believe. Also, "She's a schoolteacher." is acceptable. |
