Which is correct for the blank, #1 or #2 below?

A is similar to B in that ( ) can�t be eaten.

I chose #2, but I�m not quite sure about #1. What do you think?

A is similar to B in that it can't be eaten.

If the correct answer were they you would have to write: A are similar to B in that they can't be eaten.
