I like to have a last sentence to be explained.
In its filing, Facebook, which has more than 800 million users worldwide, said it was seeking to raise $5 billion, according to a figure used to calculate the registration fee. The company will seek to have the ticker �FB� for its shares, but did not list an exchange.

Ticker is the acronym for that company in the stock exchange. It comes from the days when stock exchange information came through ticker tape machines. The excess paper were used in "ticker tape" parades.
Actually, it was announced that Facebook will be in the New York Stock Exchange, not the NASDAQ, as many would have surmised.
