The king stared at the figure in astonishment. It walked rapidly, moving its head up and down, so that anyone would have taken it for a live human being. The engineer touched its chin, and it began singing beautifully. He touched its hand, and it began posturing, keeping perfect time...
What does the underlined phrase "keeping perfect time" mean? As far as I know, it has something to do with the accuracy of a clock. But it doesn't seem to fit here.
Examining it closely, the king found all the internal organs complete; and over these again, muscles, bones and limbs with their joints, skin, teeth and hair, all of them artificial...
What does the underlined phrase mean? Is it the same as "once again"?
Thanks |

Keeping perfect time - It was singing. Its movements were synchronised to the beat of the music.
It also applies to a clock or other time-keeping device, but not here.
Over these again - also, on top of, or covering these.
It's a humanoid robot, I guess. |
