The following are my questions:
The girl was dressed in white, and she walked further ___1___ for a hitch-hike, which she had been awaiting since the sunset. The flakes were seen ___2___ all over her body.
1. (A) to asking (B) having asked (C) and ask (D) asking
2. (A) fallen (B) covered (C) to rest (D) laying
The answer to question 1 is (D), but can I change it into to ask?
The answer to question 2 is (C). How about (A) or (B)?
Thanks for your kind help. |

While "asking for a hitch-hike" is grammatically correct, it is not something anyone would say. Who wrote this awful mess? The first sentence would be all right if rewritten as, "The girl was dressed in white, and she walked and hitchhiked, as she had done since sunset."
As for the second sentence, again, it is grammatically correct with "to rest," but very poorly written. Much better would be, "She had flakes all over her body."
Note that 2D, "laying," should be "lying."
