| Stage two isnt just a matter of naked power. It brings a sense of optimism to life. The world exists to be explored and conquered. If you watch a two-year-old as I, me, mine takes over, the sense of delight is inescapable. Ego gives you strength, although its lessons are often painful. |
1.Can I replace 'as' with 'who'?
2. If not, what words or phrase can it be replaced with?
3. What does 'If you watch a two-year-old as I, me, mine takes over' mean?
Thanks. |

1. No, I don't believe that you can substitute 'as' for 'who' in this form, unless you write in the continuous form '...who I, me, mine are taking over...'
2. You could use 'while' as an alternative.
3. The narrative seems to be discussing the changes that occur in the two year old's innocent mind as the ego state begins to develop. The 'I, me, mine' refer to the speaker in the narrative, which could be a personification of the ego, perhaps. _________________ Every person, every object is full of desire. Be a connoisseur! |
