1. Does 'the fall of a sparrow' in the quote have any special meaning as a metaphor in Western culture?
2. What does 'that' in the quote mean?

I would call "fall of a sparrow" an allusion used as a metaphor referring to the Bible...Matthew 10 v. 29 which is to show God cares for all living things� THAT refers to the previous statement: Events are random, treacherous things that can happen at any moment. _________________ TAO
