How did "rats" & "drats" come?

Dear teachers:

I love watching The Big Bang Theory. In this TV series, the characters always say "drats" or "rats" when something was screwed. Is there any relation between these two words?And how these two words come ?

Rats and drat are very close to "darn." They are light exclamatory phrases.
