I have had an idea that "and that" should be used in the following way.
He makes mistakes, and that (=he makes mistakes) very often.
But recently I encountered with a usage below.
I feel like I need approval on almost everything that I do! It is slowing me down and that I’m bothering my boss too much.

First, I think your sentence should be, "He makes mistakes, and does that very often." if you want to use "that". It could also be "does it very often."
I don't understand why there is a "that" in the second example. It seems "It is slowing me down and I'm bothering my boss too much." would be sufficient and make more sense. You could also say, "I'm worried that it is slowing me down and that I'm bothering my boss too much." (or you could drop the second "that.") |
