Hallo,

When faculty refers to Teacher what does it exactly mean?

Does it mean a group of teachers or a single teacher?

Can I say

'he is a great faculty in ecience'?
Or

' we have great faculties in our school'?

Thanks

bubu

It refers to the group of teachers.

You can say:

He is a great faculty member in the discipline of Science.

We have a great faculty at our school.

I hope that helped a little. Smile

In connection with schools, faculty can be used in two ways:
1 [countable noun] a department or group of departments in a university:
Example: The Faculty of Medicine
Example: The Law Faculty
2 [uncountable noun] (AMERICAN ONLY) all the teachers in a university, college, or school:
Example: There will be a meeting for students, faculty, and administrators

One teacher alone cannot be a faculty.
