What's a *grammar school*?
Is it true that *finishing school* has a negative impression to a lot of people?
Thanks |

It used to be a state school in UK that 50 years ago provided a very good education.
Socialist politicians of the Labour brand and also the New Labour party now in power, consider them somehow elitist, and are doing, or have done, their best to dumb down the whole educational system so that nobody feels inadequate.
For example it is now possible to "pass" an A level exam with marks of less than 50%.
As a result the UK educational system, once the envy of the world, is now in disarray. |

A finishing school is a place where rich young ladies go to be taught how to deal with any situation they are likely to encounter in their lives.
I expect such schools are not admired by the poor, and the Labour government of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. |

In the U.S. at least, Grammar School is another name (though a bit out-dated) for Elementary School (grades K thru 6 or 8 ). |
