Dear teachers:
Much of this country is traversable only by four-wheel-drive vehicle or *pack train*.
Does "pack train" mean "a group of animals"?
Thanks. |

It means a group of pack animals, such as horses, mules, or donkeys, that are fitted with cargo-carrying equipment (pack saddles, panniers etc.). |

A pack saddle is a saddle designed for carrying cargo, rather than for carrying a rider.
A pack is a special container designed for carrying things. A pack can also be a bundle of things tied together for ease of carrying. Either can be attached to a pack saddle.
Soldiers also wear packs designed to carry any equipment they will need on the battlefield. |
