If I interpret Mr. Admiral's opinion right, Taiwan alreadly possessed the rights not only far beyond a province that should have but rather near to an independent country. This is a real fact. In order to be labelled as an independent country, was it worth it? The sacrifice for the peace which all those people really need.

You answered my question.
You are right.

However, Taiwan now is already a fully independent country and it has an independent government, which has the full souvereignty over Taiwan.

To tell the truth, perhaps the situation now is the best, not that Taiwan would totally belong, not that it would totally be different.

The declaration of independence is not need, because, according to the history, the Republik of China has already been independent 1912, when it was made.

However, chinese government shouldn't be too stupid, perhaps by the time everything will be ok.
But think of the feasts in Taiwan, 5. April, New Year, Moon feast, think of the language, and think that you are in some respects more chinese than some chinese on the mainland, because most possibly you are han-zou.

However, what the chinese government does is because of the past, perhaps they are still angry that Japan invaded Taiwan 1895.

China becomes Republic 1912.

However, the fact that Taiwan belongs to "China" is because of the movement of Guomindang under Chiang 1949, where the Republic of China consists.

That's why Taiwan shouldn't say that they belong to the communist party, that's why the situation now is perhaps the best. But perhaps a friendship is also good.

I agree with this point.

As a guy from the mainland, I do not care which party is in charge of China, no matter R.O.C or P.R.C, what I expect is a strong country, with mainland and taiwan, for all the chinese in the world.

It is a fact that Taiwan belongs to China. We cannot deny the fact, we cannot deny the history. Both the mainland Chinese people and Twaiwanese are speak the same language and have the same festival, both of them have the same ancestor. Someone would not like to accept this fact coz they're afraid of, afraid of lose everything they possessed now if Taiwan return to China. Actually, it's unnecessary to worry about that. Let's look at HK, HK is still be itself when it returned to China and the ECONOMY there is still OK. Actually, China give more support to HK and also give freedom.
China is a tolerant country, not aggressive. But Chinese people have the right to keep their domain integrated. Here, the Japanese[junyayamaguchi1317] has no right to say anything.[/list]

Now, China wants to use force to attack Taiwan. I learned the history of China and Taiwan when I was high school student. So I understood why China wants to do that a little. But I want China and Taiwan to be good terms each other.
I think both countries people speak similar language, so they can communicate each other. If they are good terms, both countries will develop.
Chinese think Taiwan is a part of China. But I think recently Taiwan became big country. Because Ive been to Taiwan before and there is a good transportation and there are many big shops. Probably people in Taiwan think that Taiwan is not a part of China. But I want them to be a good terms.

I know Taiwanese want to independ from China, and as a Chinese, I also support Taiwan indepence movement, because that is real democracy.
In the history, Taiwan belonged to China because the the Chinese military force. Taiwan people never stopped their steps to freedom and democracy. I believe in the future, Taiwan will finally independ from China.
God bless Taiwan!

Good point, David. It's one I made myself a while ago, ha ha. It doesn't matter what language you speak....just because you speak Japanese doesn't mean you automatically become a Japanese citizen. Do you really think that speaking Chinese makes you a Chinese person? I am American, but Iwill learn to speak Chinese soon....I will stay American, right?

Force_9,the situation between taiwan-mainland and america-GB is different.Taiwan wasn't colony of Chinese but simply part of China. You can't consider GB without scotland and northern ireland and welse, neither can you consider China without island of taiwan.

The thing is that Taiwan may look like an insignificant and rebellious speck compared to "The Great Empire of China" but it is really just as significant and important to the worlds society as China is. Look at all of the other colonies that have broken away from their mother countries or been taken over. All of them are successful working contributers to the world economy. A prime example would be the United States of America. THese people were looked at as evil and treasonous at the time but now they are the reigning super power of the world. ALso, the French people revolted right after the American Revolution and they are now a very important contributing factor to the world. Lastly, Mexico aws once a colony of Spain but they righted that one too. THe thing that makes the China-Taiwan separation easier to except is that they FLED the country and started a new country on unclaimed land. THe fact that you ignorant and close minded Chinans think that the people of Taiwan should not be excepted by the world as a new country is the STUPIDEST thing I have EVER heard!!! They should be allowed to be in the U.N. with their own government and army and everything else. THe fact that Taiwan is referred to as the Republic of China and so is not always given proper credit for their acheivements is another increduously stupid thing. As I'm looking around here I could probably find ten out of the thirty things around me to be labeled with "MADE IN TAIWAN". U.S.A. and others recognizes Taiwan as a separate country so the rest of the world (that means you China) should except this too.

Taiwan is Chinese land why should we give up our own land?If you prepare to buy another house and I ask you to give up your original house because you would have had another one, will you do delightedly as what I say?If people ask the USA to give up texas or california and to withdraw all their military bases over the globe because they had already landed on the MOON before this century, will the USA do as their wish?

as they seem to bee pretty decent when holding control over a country (unlike Japan)

Jeff, if I was you, I would be silent.
Chinese are at least only trying to get back what belonged to them.

Your ancestors went on a country which doesn't belong to them. And look on your own nose about that land spreading instinct.
What is the Great Plains of America and who said that your Manifest Festiny is to make the whole world under your american family?
