Dear teachers:
*If* your instructions and electronic response are not received by that time, a 1-month extension fee will likely be incurred *if* we cannot meet the response deadline.
There exist two "if" in the above sentence. It sounds a little weird to me. Would you write a sentence like that?

While technically it is correct, you are right, it does sound a bit strange.
I would replace one of the "if"s with "in the event that". OR rewrite the first phrase as "Should your instructions and electronic response not be received by that time,...". |
