Is there any difference between the meanings of these sentences:

1-He is reading a serious book like "The Sound and the Fury".
2-He is reading a serious book, like "The Sound and the Fury".

It could be that 1 is talking not only about a serious book, but one that is similar to "The Sound and the Fury" in some other way. And if so, then 2 is referring to a serious book, pointing to "The Sound and the Fury" as one example of a well-known serious book. The stress there is on serious only.
