It refers to making a good debate, not taking no for an answer, playing a sport well, etc.
In any battle to raise taxes, you can expect the republicans to put up a good fight.
At first, the car dealership denied that the damage to Mary's car was covered by the warranty. She put up such a good fight that they eventually backed down.
You can always expect Tiger Woods to put up a good fight when he has a chance to win a tournament. |
